Homeopathy is amazing for childbirth! As of this writing, I have attended 7 childbirths: 4 of my own and the birth of three of my grandchildren. But my youngest two grandchildren were the first in my family to be born with the help of homeopathy.
Two Very Different Childbirth Experiences…Homeopathy Greatly Helped Them Both
My oldest daughter’s recent childbirth was the first one in which we used homeopathy. She had a very healthy pregnancy, in part because she used Joette Calabrese’s Prenatal Homeopathic Cell Salt Regimen.
She was under the care of a midwife group and planned to have a drug-free, completely natural waterbirth at a birthing center. The midwives were familiar with homeopathy , but not educated to know how to use it for childbirth. My daughter’s wishes were to have me there to assist her with homeopathy, and her midwives were very supportive of allowing me to administer the remedies as needed throughout the labor.

To prepare, I studied ahead of time. I took a course called Homeopathy: Pregnancy, Birth and Beyond from Sue Meyer of Homeopathy for Mommies. Sue is the mother of 11 and last I heard, grandmother of 33 grandchildren. She is a wealth of information! The course was broad, covering many remedies that are helpful during pregnancy and after the baby is born, in addition to the actual labor.
I also read two excellent books about homeopathy and childbirth that were specific to labor and delivery: The Homeopathic Childbirth Manual and Guide to Homeopathic Remedies for the Birth Bag.

The most important thing that I did to prepare, was to purchase a homeopathic remedy kit specifically for childbirth. I could have also put together my own kit, but this 18 Homeopathic Remedy Kit for Childbirth by Helios was well stocked with all the most important remedies in the most appropriate potencies. It also came with a small booklet that served as a mini- Materia Medica (description of remedies) and a mini-Repertory (list of symptoms). I referred to it often during the labor and delivery and it served us very well.
The labor was completely natural and the midwives were amazed at how focused and productive my daughter’s labor was. After about 5 hours of labor from start to finish, my daughter gave birth to a healthy, happy baby boy! There was technically one complication, in that the placenta was “slow” to deliver by the standards of the laws in our state. The midwives were required to have my daughter taken to the hospital to finish delivering the placenta and be checked by a medical doctor. I gave my daughter the appropriate homeopathic remedies for delayed delivery of the placenta, and by the time we got to the hospital it was delivered with no problem. Both mother and baby were released within a couple of hours and by that afternoon they were resting happily in the comfort of their own home.

The Gateway to Homeopathy Study Group curriculum, by Joette Calabrese, is an excellent way to learn the basics of homeopathy. Gateway to Homeopathy 1 covers the surgical protocols that my second daughter used to lessen the effects of her C-section. Gateway to Homeopathy 2 covers the homeopathic cell salts, which both my daughters used to ensure that their pregnancies were healthy. I lead several Gateway to Homeopathy guided study groups throughout the year. If you would like more information on how to join a guided study group, contact me.
I recently had the honor and privilege of sharing my homeopathy story on the Mom’s With Moxie Podcast. The interview is Podcast 109 – Symptoms as a Gift and a Guide. You can listen to the interview here.
